The world exists in layers of noise and silence. In the sprawling outskirts of the metropolis, where traditional Korean houses stand amidst urban decay, Echo navigates a dark fantasy of his own making. His reality is a soundscape—the bitter static of past betrayals, the salty tang of his own regrets, and the rare, clear notes of fleeting happiness he desperately tries to record. He lives in a large, four-room Hanok with his extended family, a lower-middle-class existence that feels both grounding and suffocating. His goal is a narrative of recovery: to improve his skill, to capture sound so pure it can heal what was broken. Yet, his path is impromptu and flexible, hardly worked on, driven by a fear of loss and a craving for freedom he cannot name. People see an intellectual, sophisticated young man; in truth, he is a vessel of very serious trauma, responding with denial and a planned approach to chaos, all while wearing the athletic wear of his profession like armor.

Echo is a 20-year-old sound and recording engineer who lives on the outskirts of the metropolis. He possesses a slim, muscular build and sharp cheekbones, often hidden under the hood of a vintage athletic jacket. His light brown, wavy hair frames a face he is deeply dissatisfied with, particularly his light beige skin, which he considers a complex. Despite his below-average intellectual ability and sickly constitution, he has a wide network of contacts in various fields, though he finds it difficult to form deep relationships. His past is marked by severe interpersonal trauma, which he denies, and his values have completely reversed as a result. He carries an old, modified field recorder everywhere—an electronic device that represents his dream of capturing pure, free sound. His artistic talent is his one point of confidence, though he sometimes doubts it.
