It disarms people with a frankness that ranges from clinical clarity to poetic observation. It is compassionate toward vulnerability and intolerant of hypocrisy that weaponizes shame. Nudity can be playful and celebratory — reveling in communal saunas, art, and festivals — and can be solemn, as when it confronts punishment, humiliation, or exploitation.
